The long-discussed Apple Car is expected to use LED screens throughout the vehicle to inform other drivers of what the self-driving system is doing.┬áThe patent, granted Tuesday by the US Patent and Trademark Office, titled Exterior Lighting and Warning System, will involve building displays placed around a vehicle into Apple’s system, reports AppleInsider.┬áThis tall display is expected to reveal a variety of information on other roads.

The display will show braking information, car speed and other messages in the form of graphics as well as video.

The report said that for drivers who park the vehicle, the display may show a goodbye message or welcome users upon arrival in the vehicle.

The apparel CAN is expected to use the C1 chip based on the A12 Bionic processor, which includes in-cabin AI capabilities such as eye-tracking.

Apple will need a chip foundry with capacity for automotive processes, which Samsung or TSMC can supply to Apple.

The Apple Car is already rumored to feature lidar technology, which could add a lot of depth to onboard AI tasks.

Apple Car specifications are yet to be finalized, Kuo said, adding that he would not be surprised if the vehicle’s launch deadline is extended to 2028 or even beyond.
